Preserve & Protect Annual Fund

For All and For Future Generations

As a steward of the Spider Chain of Lakes and watershed YOU have an opportunity to preserve and protect this beautiful resource for generations to come by contributing to our Annual Giving Program

Your gift will fund SCLA efforts to combat environmental threats such as Aquatic Invasive Species; preserve the outstanding water quality; and educate our community about long-term conservation solutions.  

What We Do 

• AIS Prevention & Mitigation (Landing Monitors, Lake Monitoring, Lake Management Plans) - the annual cost of boat inspectors at public landings is roughly $30,000; if we have more funds, we can extend the hours of coverage; 75% of our expenses fund AIS Prevention and Mitigation efforts and plans
• Education - Informing Current and Future Lake residents, including children (S.L.E.E.K.)
• Water Quality Checks & Safety  - Buoy management, water testing, ensuring healthy fish habitats
• Partnering  to strengthen our capabilities: WisconsinLakes.org, DNR, Cable Natural History Museum
• Conservation  - Promoting ways to preserve your environment, including Shoreland Restoration help

Our Challenge

In the past, SCLA mission activities were funded with the help of Government grants.  While we will continue to apply for grants, but they are no longer as plentiful.  We cannot count on government funds in the future.
If we do not implement a sustainable financial plan we will no longer be able to continue our mission of preserving and protecting our lakes.

Without a sustainable financial structure we will lack funds to mitigate invasive species or other new threats to our lake environment. The SCLA endowment will provide financial sustainability to mitigate threats over the long term.  Click here to read more about the Endowment

We Share a Rare Resource

It's up to us to protect it!  We need your help.  There are two ways to give to SCLA: 

(1) Annual Operating Gift: aka "Fish Member Gifts" - join or renew at a "Fish Member" tier each year - all "Fish Member Gifts" are allocated to fund operations, and (2) Preserve & Protect Fund: allocated 2/3 to endowment and 1/3 to the emergency reserve.

 Please consider how much you love Spider Lake (and how much you spend annually in other areas of your life: cell phone, fitness centers, golf memberships, internet/tv) and ask: is my time at Spider Lake worth $400/year?  That is the average cost per family of SCLA annual expenses to protect the lakes.  Your time here is irreplaceable; please help us protect this irreplaceable resource.

CHECK, Credit Card/PayPal: Use the Form at bottom of this page to donate online or send a check to SCLA, P.O. Box 1082, Hayward, Wi. 54843.  Note: PayPal charges nearly 3% processing fee (and credit card company fees also are deducted) so if you wish to avoid SCLA paying that fee, PLEASE SEND US A CHECK INSTEAD (or "top off your credit card/Pay Pal-Online gift with 3% so SCLA receives your total intended gift amount.

DIRECT FROM YOUR DONOR ADVISED FUND:  Please notify us at spiderchainoflakes@gmail.com ATTN: Philanthropy Committee Chair if you plan to do this so we can accurately administer gifts from your donor advised fund.  

SECURITIES or MUTUAL FUNDS:  Directly from your Mutual Fund or Brokerage Account to SCLA's account at Charles Schwab. USE YOUR IRA DISTRIBUTION:  If you are age 70.5 or older you can donate up to $100,000 per year from your IRA to charitable organizations without having to recognize income on the sums withdrawn on your federal income tax return.  And it counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution! Memorials & Tributes: Celebrate the Life and Love of a loved one by making a donation in their name.  Honor the memory of a loved one who has passed on.  Honor a family member or friend to Celebrate a Birthday or Anniversary.  Please notify us of your tribute (in the Comments section or a note) and if appropriate, the contact information of your loved one so we can send them a notice of your gift.  We will print all Memorials and Tributes in the Spider Lines newsletter.
